Transition to Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)
Ontario's Blue Box Program is transitioning to a new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) model under the new provincial Blue Box Regulation (O. Reg. 391/21). EPR requires producers to operate and pay for the collection and reuse, refurbishment, and recycling of Blue Box materials.
The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is no longer responsible for recycling services as of January 1, 2024. The new administrator of the common collection system,
Circular Materials, will ensure the continuation of the service to eligible residential properties in Chatham-Kent.
