Health Care & Services
Our services include 24-hour licensed professional nursing and personal care to meet resident individual needs complemented by access to a physician on-site. We develop resident-centred care plans for each resident and with a team approach ensure resident daily needs are met.
Contracted service providers are part of our care team which include foot care services, dental services, hair salon services, pharmacy services and specialized therapies, such as respiratory care. Additional fees may apply to some services.
Additional care is offered within our home by team members with specialized and professional skills, including:
- BSO (Behavioural Support Ontario) on site
- Palliative/ End of Life Care Services/ Honour Guard
- Wound Care
Dietary Care
Our Registered Dietitians provide dietary requirement assessments for each resident as part of our integrated health care team. Resident-centred nutritional care plans evolve in consultation with the resident, their family members and other health care team members. Specialized diets are developed and closely monitored for residents with unique dietary needs.
Our diverse menus offer choice at every meal and are changed regularly to offer a wide variety of delicious, nutritious meals. Residents are able to provide their feedback through the Resident Food Committee or individual suggestions and we adjust the menu based on their feedback and preferences.
Recreational Services
Engaging residents in the life of our home gives them a sense of belonging and an opportunity to make Riverview Gardens their very own community.
We provide social and recreational services seven days a week, including holidays. Our leisure, recreation and therapeutic recreation programs are designed to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cognitive and intellectual needs of our residents. We offer a variety of programs one-on-one, as well as small and large group activities and special events. Our goal is to create a meaningful, life-enriching experience for all our residents.
Community Service groups play an integral role in the lives of our residents. These services include pet therapy, mobile library, culturally diverse programs and more.

- Our Great Room located on the 1st floor provides a home like atmosphere with a projector television, comfortable seating, electric fireplace & more!
- Our licensed bar is available to residents and family members. Friendly service is provided by our SMART serve volunteers.
- Enjoy homemade soup, sandwiches & more at the Hidden Garden Cafe open Monday - Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm (except holidays) cash only.
- We have 24-hour vending machines on-site.
- Our walking paths and a beautiful garden courtyard are designed with easy access for wheelchairs and walkers, perfect for summer night visits or to view the spectacular lights in the winter.
- Multi-purpose rooms are available for small family gatherings.
Residents' Council & Family Council
Residents' Council is affiliated with the Ontario Association of Residents' Council. Family Council is affiliated with Family Council Ontario. Our Councils provide ongoing advocacy for residents living at Riverview Gardens and provide input to operational decisions and changes.
Therapeutic Care
Riverview Gardens offers a wide range of physiotherapy and occupational therapies. Rehabilitation (physio and occupational therapy) services and restorative care work together to meet resident goals, as well as improve mobility and range of motion so our residents can remain as independent as possible.
Our certified social worker is available to offer resident and/or family counselling and to assist with transitioning into our home.
Spiritual Services
Our Spiritual Care Coordinator provides emotional and spiritual counselling to residents and families when needed. Spiritual and religious programs are offered to meet individual resident needs. Community support is provided from local churches within our home.
Support Services
Support services are extremely important to accomplishing our goal of creating an environment of exceptional care. This includes daily housekeeping and laundry services to make sure our residents enjoy a clean, fresh and healthy environment every day. Full-time maintenance staff maintain our home, operating at top efficiency 24/7. Our residents are safe, comfortable, content and secure..
Banking services are provided to residents Monday to Friday through the reception desk.
