Elevated Water Levels Expected

After experiencing heavy rainfall over the past few days, both the Lower Thames Conservation Authority and St. Clair Region Conservation Authority have issued statements advising water levels in the region will rise considerably over the next couple of days. This will result in localized flooding along local rivers and waterways.

Citizens are reminded to avoid watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous conditions, slippery banks and swift moving water. Children and pets should be kept away from the water.

High, fast-moving water contains many dangers including hidden debris and entanglement risks. Citizens should avoid the waterways for recreational uses until water levels lower.

Watch for further updates on waters conditions posted from both the Lower Thames Conservation Authority and St. Clair Region Conservation Authority.

Public Works will be temporarily closing roads that experience flooding. Chatham-Kent Fire and Rescue along with Public Works will continue to monitor flooded areas and roadways.
