Blossoming Unity: Unveiling the Colour of 2024 for Fall Planting

The Municipality of Chatham-Kent is excited to continue with Growing Together, a “Love My Hood” initiative.

In a show of collaboration and community spirit, local horticulture and beautification committees from across Chatham-Kent have joined forces with the Municipality to once again announce the vibrant colour that will define our landscape in 2024: Orange.

This decision, which was made after extensive deliberation, signifies a harmonious effort to cultivate a stronger sense of togetherness and unity within our communities. The colour orange was chosen not only for its warm and inviting qualities but for its ability to symbolize growth, optimism, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow. Orange is also the colour that was chosen for all of Canada for 2024 by Communities In Bloom and the Canadian Garden Council.

Residents, businesses, and community groups are encouraged to incorporate orange into their gardening and planting initiatives throughout 2024. Whether it's orange blooms, foliage, or decorative elements, we hope to see a burst of orange throughout our community.

As fall approaches, those planting bulbs can consider adding orange varieties to their gardens. These bulbs will blossom into a sea of orange in the spring, symbolizing our shared aspirations for a brighter future.

Mayor Darrin Canniff expressed his enthusiasm for this community-driven initiative stating, "It's heartwarming to witness our local committees come together with a shared vision. Let's embrace this vibrant colour and watch it flourish in every corner of our community."
