Chatham-Kent Public Library is adding adult print materials to the collections that are offered fines free! CKPL has previously eliminated overdue fines on all children’s and teen’s materials and has now added adult print materials. CKPL is committed to literacy and is pleased to take another step toward supporting individuals and families in their reading and learning by removing a long-standing barrier to service and increasing equitable access to literacy and information in our community.
Starting February 1, 2025, most adult print materials can be borrowed fines free from any branch of Chatham-Kent Public Library. These materials will not be charged fines if returned late. Borrowed materials should still be returned, as others are often waiting for them, and replacement fees will apply if the item is not returned for an extended period.
Adult print materials that will no longer accrue fines include hardcover and paperback books (including large print and graphic novels), book club kits and magazines. In addition, Playaways, Books on CD, and Books and CD will also be fines free.
Express reads, interlibrary loan materials, DVDs, video games, puzzles, board games, park passes, launchpads and wifi hotspots continue to accrue fines and replacement fees according to the “Fees and Fines Schedule”.
