The Chatham Hindu Cultural Association started to bring together Hindus living, studying, or working in CK. We promote and practice the Hindu culture with integration into local communities to make Chatham-Kent home.
Hindus, also knows as Sanatani, strongly believe in culture and to pass it on to the next generation. The Chatham Hindu Cultural Association contributes to a growing multicultural Chatham-Kent. We are always looking for the way to give back to Chatham-Kent, our chosen home.
Through various activities and outreach the Chatham Hindu Cultural Association has grown in last 3 years. These activities include:
- Hosted the Diwali Food Drive which resulted in a donation of 400lbs of food to Outreach for Hunger.
- Teaching Hindi and Gujarati language classes and offering the Yoga Club.
- Organized Diwali Festival to celebrated with local communities with over 140 in attendance.
- We sponsored and planted 25 trees at Lark Park.
- Celebrated Raksha Bandhan Festival where we tied the Rakhi (scared thread) to the Chatham-Kent Police Chief and Mayor of Chatham-Kent with wishes and prayers for their protection and well being.
- Hosted the Navratri Festival for last 3 years, which is open to community of Chatham-Kent to attend. In 2023, over 150 community members attended the festival.
