Transfer Policy

A valid paper or electronic transfer is accepted as fare payment on Urban and Inter-Urban bus routes. The purpose of a transfer policy is to provide accommodation for riders whose one-way trip requires transfer to other vehicles. Round trips or additional trips are permitted within the rules but accommodation of such trips is not the intended purpose of this policy.


Urban Route Boarding (Route 1-5, OnRequest)

Initial fare payment on an urban route includes free transfers between Ride CK urban routes for a period of 70 minutes. This includes return trips on the next run of the same fixed route. Urban transfers may be used to board an Inter-Urban route within 70 minutes along with payment of the applicable "top up" amount to cover the Inter-Urban fare.

Cash Payment:

  • A paper transfer ticket must be requested of the Operator at the time of first boarding and payment of the fare

Smart Card Payment:

  • An electronic transfer is automatically added to your smart card when you tap your smart card on the validator at the time of first boarding.
  • A paper transfer may be requested of the Operator when the rider pays for one or more travelling companions using a smart card loaded with a Cash Pass. One (1) paper transfer may be requested for each travelling companion. The holder of the smart card will not be issued a paper transfer as their electronic transfer has been automatically added to their smart card.


Inter-Urban Route Boarding (Route A, C, and D)

Initial fare payment on an inter-urban route includes free transfers between Ride CK Inter-Urban routes for a period of 140 minutes. This includes return trips on the next run of the same fixed route. Inter-Urban transfers may be used to board an Urban route within 140 minutes at no additional fare.

Cash Payment:

  • A paper transfer ticket must be requested of the Operator at the time of first boarding and payment of the fare

Smart Card Payment:

  • An electronic transfer is automatically added to your smart card when you tap your smart card on the validator at the time of first boarding.
  • A paper transfer may be requested of the Operator when the rider pays for one or more travelling companions using a smart card loaded with a Cash Pass. One (1) paper transfer may be requested for each travelling companion. The holder of the smart card will not be issued a paper transfer.
