Between June 2019 to May 2020 the Municipality of Chatham-Kent conducted a consultation process with residents and stakeholders on the improvement, growth, and sustainability of public transit in our community.
Over 190 hours of public consultation took place with service groups, committees, local businesses, municipal departments, vendors, peer jurisdictions, and ridership. 16 Public Information Centres were held across nine Chatham-Kent communities plus one online session. Over 2,000 comments were reviewed by the project team.
The result of the project was a new master plan for Chatham-Kent public transit: Driving Forward. This document was received by Municipal Council on July 20, 2020 and will serve as the framework for recommendation on new policies, projects, and transit service levels over the next 5-10 years.
