Cause: Accidental

Comments on cause: Station #18 – Blenheim was dispatched just after 8am this morning to 20377 Communication Rd for a garage fire. Station #12 – Harwich North pumper and tanker were also dispatched, along with Station #16 – Raleigh South tanker. The fire was quickly brought under control and there was no exposure damage to other buildings on the property. The fire was accidental, caused by a wood stove. The loss of the building and contents is estimated at $60,000. No injuries.

Comments on incident/response: CK Fire is remining residents that wood stoves should be placed on a floor pad at least one meter away from walls, furniture, curtains, and other flammable materials. Similarly, anything that can burn must be kept at a safe distance away from the stove.
