Cause: Undetermined

Comments on incident/response: Chatham-Kent Fire & Rescue crews from Station #1 & #2 – Chatham were dispatched to the area of Bloomfield Road and Queens Line for a smoke investigation. Upon arrival, firefighters were encountered with a large working fire in the northeast corner of A Gold & Sons. Approximately 20 scrap cars, along with numerous bins of tires were burning. A general fire alarm was called due to the extreme heat, strong winds and the size of the fire.

Stations #1 & #2 – Chatham were joined by all units from Station #15 – North Raleigh as well as tanker support from Stations #7 – Chatham South and Station #12 – Harwich North.

CK Police closed a portion of Queens Line to allow for an uninterrupted water shuttle. CK EMS were also on scene for firefighter wellness and rehab. Approximately 45 firefighters were on scene.

Crews cleared at approximately 3:30 pm. There were no injuries and there is no estimated value of the damage as it was scrap. The cause is undetermined. The Office of the Fire Marshal was contacted due to the size and nature of the fire for informational purposes only.
