The Kent Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, located within the Chatham branch of the CK Public Library offers online archives for searching family roots. Whether you are from Chatham-Kent originally and want to trace your ancestors, or are from afar and have roots here, the Kent Branch of the OGS will help you to uncover them.
You can easily access online archives to trace your family roots and discover more than you ever expected about long lost family and loved ones. This service is available to all, whether you are visiting or a resident. Many people have discovered long lost relatives and ancestors in Chatham-Kent and have gone on to visit spots with family history or connections.
The Kent Branch OGS is located within the Chatham-Kent Public Library on Queen Street in Chatham, on the second floor and is currently open from 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Friday and Saturdays (excluding holidays and holiday weekends); this is subject to volunteer availability and the ongoing Covid-19 guidelines. During our library hours, contact the volunteer on duty at: 519.354.2940 x4873. The library has extensive holdings and is equipped with a copier and scan to email or USB. The Kent Branch has an excellent research library with open shelves so the public can do their own research. There is no fee to use the library but donations are welcomed and encouraged.
