The Municipality of Chatham-Kent will move to its first ever multi-year budget beginning with the four-year period of 2024 through 2027. The budget process will begin in the spring of 2023 when all departments begin a review of their priorities and their annual operating and capital requirements. A draft budget is then prepared and presented to the Executive Management Team for their review and prioritization. After this process, the draft budget is made available to the public for their review and comment. Finally, the draft budget is sent to the Budget Committee for their review, discussion, changes and approval.
The budget is a blueprint on how your tax dollars are spent. It defines how the Municipality will balance revenues with expenditures to fund municipal services in an effective and efficient manner.
